The BMAI GCARBON TURBO 4 Marathon Racer Lands at RM629
Malaysian runners chasing a new personal best have another carbon-plated racing shoe to weigh up. On 22 September, running brand BMAI launched the GCARBON TURBO 4 in Kuala Lumpur, its newest race-day shoe built for the stretch of a marathon where fatigue usually wins. It goes on sale at RM629, with a RM499 price for the first month after launch.
The pitch is simple: hold your pace when your legs would rather not. BMAI aims the shoe at advanced runners targeting a sub-3:30 marathon, though it says it also suits competitive runners and race-pace training days.
What is under your foot
The headline change is the plate. The GCARBON TURBO 4 uses a full-length T1000 carbon plate, a step up from the T700 plate in the previous version, which BMAI says returns more direct propulsion with each stride. Sitting under it is an upgraded BoomMAX supercritical foam midsole made with Evonik nylon, tuned to bounce back quickly on landing.
BMAI has also widened the platform, by 4mm at the forefoot and 6mm at the midfoot, for a more stable base as you tire. A one-piece stretch tongue, breathable woven mesh upper and a cast PU outsole round it out. It is a light shoe: about 135g in a size 37 and 172g in a size 41, with a 4.5mm heel-to-toe drop.
A bigger push into Malaysia's running scene
The shoe arrived alongside a clear local play. BMAI Malaysia has signed 12 athletes across running and endurance events, and is running a "Road to KLSCM" programme that brings together 30 elite runners, content creators and everyday runners to train in the GCARBON TURBO 4 ahead of the Kuala Lumpur marathon.
On the ground, the brand already operates BMAI Runner House stores in Kepong, Setapak and Seberang Jaya, with Johor Bahru and the East Coast next, and says it plans to connect with around 200 running clubs across the country through community runs and training sessions.
"We want BMAI to become a genuine part of Malaysia's running culture," said Hunter Wang, Head of BMAI Malaysia. "Our goal is to support runners at every level and help them achieve their next PB."
Price and launch offers
The GCARBON TURBO 4 has a retail price of RM629. For the first month after launch it sells at RM499 through BMAI's official Malaysia Shopee store and selected authorised retailers. In the first week, buyers through BMAI Malaysia's Shopee or TikTok also get a free pair of BMAI running socks worth RM39.
Carbon-plated racers have become the default for runners hunting a faster finish, and the field in Malaysia keeps growing.
