HOMESOY Turns Breast Cancer Screening Into a Family Effort

HOMESOY Turns Breast Cancer Screening Into a Family Effort

2026-10-01

Most of us know someone who has quietly put off a health check because life got in the way, or because the thought of it felt too daunting to face alone. HOMESOY's message this October is a simple one: nobody should have to take that step by herself.

The Malaysian soya milk brand has launched the third year of its Stop That Dot Together campaign, and this time the call reaches beyond women themselves. HOMESOY is asking partners, families, friends and whole communities to play an active role in encouraging the women around them to get screened for breast cancer.

Why the urgency is real

The numbers behind the campaign are sobering. Breast cancer accounts for more than 30% of all female cancer diagnoses in Malaysia and affects one in 20 women in their lifetime, according to WHO GLOBOCAN 2022. Early detection pushes survival rates close to 90%, yet the Malaysian National Cancer Registry Report shows nearly half of local cases are still caught late, at Stage III or IV, where Stage IV survival falls to 23%. Part of the gap is habit and access: the National Health and Morbidity Survey found that 75% of women over the age of 40 have never had a mammogram.

Turning encouragement into action

To make support tangible, HOMESOY has partnered with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) and more than 40 medical centres nationwide, including Sunway Medical Centre, Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Prince Court Medical Centre and participating KPJ and Columbia Asia hospitals. Women who go for breast cancer screening at participating locations receive a complimentary pack of HOMESOY 3.0 Soya Milk, with the giveaway worth a total of RM100,000. The brand also presented RM25,000 each to NCSM and Cancer Research Malaysia (CRMY) to fund screening programmes and research tailored to Malaysian women.

The launch leaned on education too, using the tactile Know Your Lemons kit, a 12-lemon model that teaches women to spot subtle signs beyond a lump, such as skin dimpling, nipple changes or textural shifts.

Clearing up the soya myth

The campaign also tackles a worry that keeps some people away from soya altogether. "Soya does not cause breast cancer; in fact, current science shows higher consumption of soya food may even offer a protective effect against it," said Ms Soo Sek Yow, Head of Nutrition Unit at Ace Canning Corporation Sdn Bhd, the company behind HOMESOY. The isoflavones in soya are plant based and do not convert into human estrogen in the body.

You can find the participating screening networks and campaign details on HOMESOY's Stop That Dot Together page. If there is a woman in your life who has been meaning to book a mammogram, this is as good a nudge as any.
