Visa Infinite's Beyond the Menu Lands at Two KL Tables
Malaysia's dining scene has a new reason for a special night out, though this one comes with a catch: you need the right card in your wallet. Visa has brought its Infinite Tastes: Beyond the Menu programme to Kuala Lumpur, with two chef-led experiences that take guests past the usual restaurant routine and into the ingredients, techniques and stories behind Malaysian food.
What Beyond the Menu is
Beyond the Menu is a set of culinary experiences offered across Asia Pacific, open only to Visa Infinite, Visa Infinite Privilege and Visa Infinite Private cardholders. Each one is built for a small group and is designed around meeting the chefs, producers and traditions behind a cuisine rather than simply working through a tasting menu. In Malaysia, two very different journeys are on offer.
The Roots of Fire & Water at Bar.Kar
On 8 November 2026, Chef Lee Zhe Xi leads The Roots of Fire & Water at Bar.Kar, a three-part dinner themed around forest, ocean and fire. The menu moves through regional ingredients and open-flame and smoking techniques, paired with local drinks including tuak, todi and house blends. It starts with wild mushrooms and ulam gathered from around the country, moves on to seafood inspired by Malaysia's coastal communities, and finishes with dishes cooked in bamboo and clay pots over an open fire. Farmers and foragers join the evening to explain where the ingredients come from and how they are grown.
"Great food begins with respect for the people who produce the ingredients and the places they come from," said Chef Lee, founder of Bar.Kar and the Feast Dining Group.
The Canvas of Origins at Chipta 11A
From 5 December 2026, Chef Jack Weldie and Diane Ong present The Canvas of Origins at Chipta 11A, an exploration of East Malaysian heritage. Rooted in Chef Jack's Kadazan-Dusun background, the experience introduces indigenous herbs, wild produce and the fermentation traditions of Borneo, including tapai and tuak made from rice. Guests see ingredients in their raw form and learn traditional methods before sitting down to a one-night-only tasting menu that reworks East Malaysian flavours in a contemporary style.
How to book
Places are limited for both experiences and bookings are open now to eligible Visa Infinite, Visa Infinite Privilege and Visa Infinite Private cardholders through the Infinite Tastes: Beyond the Menu platform. The two Malaysian dinners are part of a wider refresh of Visa Infinite benefits across Asia Pacific, which Visa says is built around travel, wellness, dining and entertainment.
