"M&S 2026 Award-Winning Wines: A Decanter Platinum Barolo"
You do not need to read a wine atlas to buy a good bottle. Marks & Spencer's own-label wines picked up a run of 2026 awards from the drinks industry's main competitions, which is a useful shortcut when you are standing in the aisle and want something that will not let you down at dinner.
The wines were judged by panels at the sector's major shows, the kind that taste blind and score on the glass rather than the label. That matters for a supermarket range, because it puts M&S bottles on the same scorecard as wines that cost a good deal more.
The bottle that led the line-up
The standout is the Collection Barolo Peironte, which took a Decanter Platinum, the top tier of one of the most watched wine competitions in the world. The same wine also earned an IWC Silver and an IWSC Bronze, so it was not a one-panel fluke. Barolo is a serious Italian red built around the Nebbiolo grape, usually a special-occasion pour, and seeing a supermarket version reach Platinum is the headline here.
The rest of the award winners
From bold reds to crisp whites, a rosé and a sparkling, the rest of the recognised range covers most occasions. Prices below are the Singapore shelf prices M&S shared.
- Collection Grand Reserve Rioja, S$48. Silky, with red berries, spice and vanilla.
- Collection Barossa Valley Shiraz, S$44. Smooth and full-bodied, an easy match for grilled and roasted meats.
- Classics New Zealand Pinot Noir, S$36. Fruit-forward, with black cherry, cranberry and a little spice.
- Petit Chablis, S$45. Crisp and refreshing, with citrus, floral and mineral notes.
- Classics Albarino, S$42. Fresh and aromatic, with apricot, citrus and a subtle saline finish.
- Finca Miguel Cava Brut, S$30. A sparkling option, with apple, citrus and toasted almond.
Worth knowing before you shop
The quick read: if you want one bottle to impress, the Barolo Peironte is the award magnet; if you want value, the Cava Brut at S$30 and the New Zealand Pinot Noir at S$36 do the most for the money. The range runs across reds, whites, rosé and sparkling, so there is a recognised bottle for most tables.
The prices here are the figures M&S listed for Singapore. We have not seen a Malaysian price list for these wines, so treat the numbers as a Singapore guide rather than a local one, and check availability at your nearest store.
