The Food Merchant Opens at Solaris Mont Kiara
Grocery shopping in Mont Kiara just got a little more indulgent. The Food Merchant, the gourmet grocer many Klang Valley food lovers already know for its curated shelves, opened its newest outlet at Solaris Mont Kiara on 8 October, and the welcome runs well past opening day.
The new store sits in one of Kuala Lumpur's most international neighbourhoods, and it leans into that. Expect fresh local produce alongside harder-to-find delicacies from around the world, the kind of mix where your weekly essentials share a basket with something you did not plan to buy. Value-added services round it out, including gift wrapping, trolley parking, and a butchery and seafood counter that will cut and vacuum-pack your order.
What the opening offers look like
The celebration is not a one-day affair. Opening rewards run from 8 October until 1 November, so there is still time to catch them.
On opening day, shoppers who spent RM150 and above in a single receipt could claim a free grocery goodie bag, while a single spend of RM300 unlocked a free fruit and vegetable gift bag. Both were capped, so they were first come, first served.
The one worth planning around is the seafood giveaway on 16 and 17 October only. Spend a minimum of RM350 on fresh seafood in a single receipt and you take home a whole Norwegian salmon, three to four kilograms, cut and vacuum-packed on the spot. It is limited to 25 redemptions a day, so early is wise.

Signing up for the free Yes I Do! membership opens a few more perks during the opening window. Members get a free non-woven shopping bag with a single spend of RM80 and above, a complimentary herb plant with a minimum spend of RM180, and a succulent with a minimum spend of RM80. The plant redemptions are capped at 100 units each.
"This new store represents an exciting step forward in our mission to transform everyday shopping into a celebratory experience," said Ivan Tan, Group Executive Director of The Food Purveyor, the group behind the brand. "Solaris Mont Kiara is known for its diverse, food-loving community, making it the perfect home for our curated global flavours and premium services."
For the mall, it is another draw for an address that trades on food and lifestyle. "Its premium grocery concept complements our vision of creating a vibrant lifestyle destination for the Mont Kiara community," said Dato Douglas Cheng, Director of Daman Group, which operates Solaris Mont Kiara. If a gourmet grocer with a salmon counter is on your list, the new outlet is open now.
