Secret Recipe's New Cookies and Cream Cake Duo
Secret Recipe is turning cookies and cream into a friendly contest. The cake cafe chain has added two new flavours to its Malaysian menu, a Cookies and Cream cake and a Dark Cookies and Cream cake, and it is asking regulars to pick a side, or simply order both.
The two cakes are sold together as the Cookies and Cream Duo, and they take the same familiar flavour in two directions. One leans into the classic cookies and cream taste, the other into deeper dark chocolate notes, so the choice comes down to whether you want something sweet and familiar or something a little bolder.
What is in each cake
The Cookies and Cream cake (about 4.5 inches) is built on a black cocoa sponge, layered with vanilla custard cream and cheese mousse folded with soft cookies. It is coated with a cookies and cream topping and finished with black cookie crumbs. It is sold whole at RM81.
The Dark Cookies and Cream cake (about 6 inches) uses a soft dacquoise and cocoa sponge with a cookies and cream filling, coated in chocolate and cookie crumbs. It is available by the slice at RM14.20 or whole at RM105, which makes it the easier one to try first if you just want a taste before committing to a whole cake.
The two formats also suit different occasions. The Cookies and Cream, sold only as a whole cake, is the one to bring to a gathering, while the sliceable Dark Cookies and Cream lets a solo diner or a pair test the darker version without committing to a full cake. Buying the pair as the Duo is the brand's nudge to try both rather than choose.
Where to get them
Both cakes are available at Secret Recipe outlets across Peninsular Malaysia. The prices above are for takeaway and are inclusive of 6% SST.
The launch lands during a busy stretch for cafe menus in Malaysia. Luckin Coffee recently tied a new drinks range to a local animated series in its Kisah Bawah Tanah campaign, and Secret Recipe itself has been running seasonal offers such as its Merdeka cake slice deal. The Cookies and Cream Duo keeps that going with two cakes built around one nostalgic flavour.
Cookies and cream has long been one of the safer bets on a Malaysian dessert menu, and splitting it into a lighter and a darker version is a simple way to keep a familiar taste interesting. Whether you are Team Classic or Team Bold, the Duo gives Secret Recipe fans a low-stakes way to settle the argument, one slice at a time.
