Secret Recipe Merdeka Deal: Buy 2 Free 1 Cake Slice

Secret Recipe Merdeka Deal: Buy 2 Free 1 Cake Slice

2026-08-21

Merdeka Day tends to fill up fast with parades, flags and family lunches, so here is a small reason to make room for dessert. On 31 August, Secret Recipe is running a Buy 2 Free 1 offer on cake slices at outlets across Malaysia, which is a fair excuse to try a flavour you would normally skip past.

How the Merdeka deal works

The offer runs on 31 August 2026 only, and only between 12pm and 5pm. Buy two cake slices and the third comes free, with the catch that the free slice has to be of equal or lower value than what you paid for. It is valid for both dine-in and takeaway, so you can eat in over a long Merdeka afternoon or carry a box home to the family gathering.

Almost every slice on the menu qualifies. The offer covers all categories of cake slices while stocks last, which puts the signature Secret Recipe favourites like Chocolate Indulgence and the fruit and cheese ranges in play. Two items are left out: Brownies and Chocolate Lava are not part of the deal.

Read the fine print before you queue

A few limits are worth knowing so nobody is caught out at the counter. The deal is capped at six cake slices per customer per receipt, so a group ordering together may want to split into more than one bill. It also cannot be stacked with other running promotions, offers, set meals, bank discounts or member privileges. It is available at all Secret Recipe outlets in Malaysia, with one exception, the branch at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz.

Part of a busy Merdeka season for local brands

Secret Recipe is far from alone in dressing up for the national day. Cafe chains have been leaning into the Merdeka mood, from Luckin Coffee's folklore-themed Kisah Bawah Tanah campaign to homegrown restaurants marking their own milestones, such as The Chicken Rice Shop's 26th-year refresh. A short, sharp dessert window like this one is an easy way for a brand to draw foot traffic on a public holiday when families are already out and about.

If a free slice of cake sounds like the right note to end Merdeka on, the window is narrow, so plan the visit around that five-hour stretch. Bring the family, pick three, and let one of them be on the house.
