Coffee lovers in the south now have a new everyday option. Luckin Coffee Malaysia has crossed 120 outlets nationwide and, for the first time, moved beyond the Klang Valley into the southern region, bringing its stores closer to communities in Negeri Sembilan and Johor.
Into the south, starting with Johor Bahru
The chain entered Seremban in May, then opened three outlets in Johor Bahru. It marked the expansion with a grand opening at its Sutera Mall outlet on 18 July, where staff and guests gathered to welcome the brand to the city.
Reaching 120 outlets is a brisk pace for a coffee brand still relatively new to Malaysia. Luckin Coffee Malaysia is operated by Global Aroma Sdn Bhd, the authorised franchisee for the Malaysian market.
More than just new stores
According to the brand, the move south is part of a wider roadmap rather than simple footprint growth. It said the expansion is meant to build a more sustainable, localised supply chain, create job opportunities in the region, and tailor the experience to each new community it enters.
For shoppers, that translates into shorter trips to a Luckin outlet and, the brand hopes, a store that feels suited to its neighbourhood rather than a copy and paste of its Klang Valley locations.
What it means for the southern coffee scene
Johor Bahru and Seremban have both seen a steady stream of cafe and beverage openings in recent years, and a fast-growing chain adding several outlets at once raises the stakes for the daily coffee run. For customers, more choice usually means more convenience and more reasons to compare.
Luckin says further growth is on the cards as it continues to expand across Malaysia. For now, southern-region coffee drinkers can find the brand at its new Johor Bahru stores, including the Sutera Mall outlet.
