Genting Highlands is getting a new kind of stay. Accor has signed a hotel management agreement with Malaysian property developer Tropicana Corporation Berhad to bring Mercure Living to the cool highland town, with 1,443 fully furnished suites built for longer stays. The development is scheduled to open in 2028.

Mercure Living Genting Highlands will sit within the TwinPines Serviced Suites at Tropicana Grandhill, a 112-acre wellness-focused precinct inside the larger 596-acre Tropicana WindCity township. The pitch is a home-away-from-home that still comes with hotel service: spacious suites with their own kitchen and dining space, so you can keep your everyday routine going while you are away.
What to expect
Beyond the suites, the property is planned with an all-day dining restaurant, an executive lounge, a multipurpose function hall, a heated swimming pool, a fitness centre and a spread of lifestyle amenities designed around extended stays. It is built for travellers who want the flexibility of an apartment with the services of a recognised hospitality brand, and for homeowners looking for a professionally managed asset.

For buyers, the Mercure name brings Accor’s global booking network and access to ALL Accor, the group’s loyalty programme. Tropicana, a township developer since 1979, frames the project as part of its push into recurring-income hospitality, integrated within its first green-certified development in Genting Highlands.
“As travellers increasingly seek accommodation that combines flexibility, comfort and authentic local experiences, we believe this development will be well positioned to meet those needs,” said Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer for Accor Asia’s Premium, Midscale and Economy division.
Why it matters
Genting Highlands remains one of Malaysia’s most visited leisure destinations, and branded extended-stay living is still a relatively new offering there. Accor already runs 28 hotels in Malaysia with more than 7,300 keys, and this signing adds another 1,443 keys to its pipeline. For now the suites are still a few years out, but if you have been eyeing the highlands for a longer escape, 2028 just got more interesting.
